Title: Which bible?
Post by: Mark J. on May 13, 2006, 11:41:53 AM
It's probably already in a thread somewhere, but I need to buy a new bible for the household to use.

I currently have an old study bible that I use, but it's mostly in Ye Olde English, and might get beyond the kids who are now getting interested since I came here and God has become a big topic around the house.

Which translation is the best/ most accurate available, and easy to read?

I was going to get the old standard NIV.

Also, for general use for the whole tribe, do you think a study bible would be better, or just a plain bible and get a good concordance to accompany it?

Thanks

Many many thanks.

Since posting that question, it popped into my head that I had some more bibles lying around somewhere. My partner and I just tore the house apart and found a box full of my old bibles in various translations and study formats.

Praise God.

Rotherham Emphasized Bible

It is not the most clear english, but that coupled with the KJV will help alot.

I just installed e-sword after reading about it here.

It comes standard with the KJV version on it. I'm going to see if the modules of other translations also come free.

I just need to work out how to get rid of the concordance reference numbers that are coming up with the text. It's really distracting.

Anyway, thanks for all the help.

God Bless
