Hello All,
Thank you to those who responded on my doublethink question. It really tightened my grasp of how much doublethink there is in today's Christian churches.
Seeing how the common Christan view of hell is rightfully met with scorn on here, I just thought I'd share a rather remarkable clip on what a retired bishop says about hell and what it's really all about.

This man could earn the name: "The Michael Moore of Christianity" if you ask me ;D

I used to read some of his material on a "christian" news website. He has some other unscriptural notions tho. I bet that blew some faithful believers away when they saw that on TV. :D

Very interesting & encouraging,
[he still may see humanity as an idol]
Hope it caused people to think for a minute ;)

Sounds like the many paths to God theory.

You sure that isn't Ronald Regan?

Hey Andrew, I really liked the clip and you seem to like this bishop -- so why do you compare him to Michael Moore?

Hey Carol and all else,
I simply made that comparison to illustrate how Spong's core attitude of eternal torment is somewhat reminiscent of Michael Moore's attitude regarding the unconstitutional practices of our present day politicians.
I wasn't trying to make a political statement in disguise by mentioning Michael Moore. If any of you took it that way I apologize. ;)
God Bless!

I don't agree with everything he said but he was spot on about religion controlling people. The way politicians have used religion to control people is sick. Using the holy name of God to promote neoconservative politics is dangerous because it enables people to justify criminal behavior.
