Title: chem homework
Post by: lilitalienboi16 on September 24, 2008, 12:48:42 AM
I'm doing a rediculous amount of chem homework atm which is due this thursday. I've been working on it for the past 3 hours.

My current question [not that you care :P] is;

Ammonia can be generated by heating together the solids NH4Cl and Ca(OH)2. CaCl2 and H2O are also formed.

(a) If a mixture containing 33.0g each of NH4Cl and Ca(OH)2 is heated, how many grams of NH3 will form?

First one to get the answer gets a free internet cookie! Ready..set... GO!!

:D

(B) Which reactent remained in excess and in what mass?

Answer to be posted soon!

The Answer is; 10.1g of Ca(OH)2 remain in excess.

Did ou get it? If you did, pat yourself on the back! Haha, that one was a tough one. I racked my brain over it for a good 15 minutes, lol. Yea.. this his how long my chem homework takes, imagin doing like 30-40 problems of those for homework in one night. AHH! LOL

Haha, having fun are we? Here's another one. It's much easier.

In the reaction 1.80 mol of CCl4 with an excess of HF, 1.55mol of CCl2F2 is obtained.

CCl4 + 2HF ----> CCl2F2 + 2HCl

What is the actual yield?

Ill give a few minutes to answer this before i post the answer. So those who want to try can. It's very simple, don't make it complicated!

Longhorn here is just an old country boy, but I did pay a little bit of attention in school learning that reading, righting, and rithmatic.  I think I could be of some help here.  It's really pretty simple.  If you take that there 33.g of NH4CL and heater up to oh say about 57 degrees celsius, and 33.g of CA(OH)2 let's say to about 51 degrees celsius, you should generate let's say about 2cc of good old H2O( thats drinking water for you lay people).

This part here you might need one of them calculators.  Next, you simply divide the 33.g of NH4CL by your age, then subtract the CA(OH)2 by the number of leap years since 1936, multiply that number on you calculator screen by the number of stray cats in you neighborhood, and old Longhorn pretty sure your going to have your answer.   ;)  God Bless, and Im glad I could help.  Feel free to call on me the next time you have one of those there chemical questions.

If a cargo train is traveling east at 30 miles per hour from LA starting at 5:00 and an Amtrack train is traveling west on the same track from Chicago at 150 miles per hour starting at 5:35, at what time will the two engineers receive the transmission "stop the blasted train you moron, you're about to meet your maker!!???

This is a Criminal Justice axiom; What does a Nun and a Public Defender have in common? If you do not know ask a Cop or a Lawyer.

CH3NO2 is Nitromethane and CH3OH is Methanol; racing fuel.
