I hope someone will come to my rescue on this one.
I am reading Romans 9:5, which goes as follows in NIV.
Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of Christ, who is God over all, forever praised![a] Amen.Does this not mean that Christ is God?
I noted that NIV has a footnote attached to this, that offers the following options!
1.
"...Christ, who is over all. God be forever praised!Amen"2.
"...Christ. God who is over all be forever praised!Amen"Had I read only the text as it appears in NIV I will have simply concluded that Christ is GOD but now this two options confused me. I checked other versions and most of them attaches the word GOD to the Christ.
Most of the commentaries that I also looked into for clarity also refers to Christ as God who is above all.
Please help.
1.Is Christ God?
2.Does he also have a God as mentioned in Ephesians 1:17?
3.Does then God has a God?
4.Why did the translators of so many versions refer to Christ as God if that is not the case?
