Eons?
« on: May 23, 2009, 03:53:47 PM »

I understand that eons have a beginning and an end, However is there any evidence in the Scriptures that tell us when an eon begins and ends, and then when the next eon begins and ends and so on...?   Maureen

Dear Maureen:  No, there isn't in most cases. That is one of the aspects of aions (Greek) and olams (Hebrew).  The

length of them is a mystery.   One example of an aion/olam is the length of a man's life, yet the length of any man's life

differs (even if only by micro-seconds) of the length of any other man's life.  When aion/olam is used to represent a

very long period of time or age, we may be given clues and signs as to when it begins and ends, but seldom are we

given enough specific enformation to know exactly when it begins and ends.  Example:  When this present age ends

and the next begins, how long each will last, and when each ends (Matt. 24:32-37).  Even the "thousand year" reign of Jesus is a

symbol, and therefore is not to be taken literally.  Hope this helps your understanding.

God be with you,

Ray
