Is man made out of the dust or clay?

<< < (2/3) > >>

microlink:
The Concordant uses the word soil.

Dave in Tenn:
The bible wasn't written in English, so here's the "Concordance" in case you don't have one (or e-sword).

And the 'definition' from Strong's Dictionary:

H6083
עפר
‛âphâr
aw-fawr'
From H6080; dust (as powdered or gray); hence clay, earth, mud: - ashes, dust, earth, ground, morter, powder, rubbish.

Don't know if that's helpful, but it was easy.   ;D

cjwood:
just thought of an interesting fact about clay or mud when someone is using it as a medium for creating pottery or bricks.  since water usually is also used in mixing these mediums this causes the clay and mud to become unable to stay in place unless someone's hands are containing the clay or else a mud mixer is containing the mud.  left to their own device, clay and mud will ooze and move out in all directions.  kind of like us.

Dave in Tenn:
ain't that the truth.  Thankfully, we're not just clay, but clay in the Right Hands.

indianabob:
Yes,
Clay in the Right Hands, being slowly and carefully shaped, dried and strengthened by fiery trials to bring us into a vessel of great value for God's holy purpose.

1 Peter 4: 12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
