This was so cool!

Here is something cool!
I came home today, and while driving up our service road noticed a hawk on the fence seperating us from the main road. I turned the van around and drove back to take a picture. The first photo is taken from my phone inside the van on the service road. The hawk did not fly off so I backed up and pulled the van into the grass and took picture #2, about 12 feet away. He didn't fly off, so I backed up drove closer and took picture #3 from about 6 feet away. He still didn't fly off so I rolled the window up so he wouldn't get in and backed up and drove about 2 feet away and took picture #4. I could have reached out the window and touched him. We looked at each other for awhile and he flew away.
God is good!

Oh Craig, that is cool. I was watching nest cams with hawks earlier while they were raising their young. I was watching until they pledged - left the nest. It is so wonderful to watch God's creation in action.

Epic! Very cool that he didn't fly off as you kept getting closer!

Well Craig, it's a good thing that you didn't pull out your butterfly net. That would have been a warning.
Great photo and much better than a stuffed bird.

Thanks for sharing, Indiana Bob

You really thought he'd get in the car with you, huh!    Never know these creatures!

Great photo though, Craig.  National Geographic stuff.

That's a beautiful picture Craig. When I was a kid I can remember we (four kids) would sit in the back seat, and to keep us quiet, my mom would say "let's count hawks" on the way to wherever we were headed. It actually worked out well for us and them. Don't remember seeing a wild one that close though. I agree with Loretta, National Geographic stuff indeed.
