Word of God burning old doctrines...

DWIGHT:
Hi Ches,

Your are so right about knowledge and understanding.  One is to know and the other is to see.  One is for the carnal mind and the other is for the spiritual heart.  There should be a real progression in our walk with the Lord, the scriptures even give a type from the very beginning.  In Genesis chapter one, God seperated the light from the darkness (a type of the begining of our salvation), then He made two lights...the one, a lesser light, and the other one, a greater light.  We started out in Christ with a little light, but we should be growing in Him in the greater light.  Like Kat said, they used to be just words, but now the words have life and meaning.

You know, it's just like food, you can look at the food on your plate all day long; even analyze it, smell it, talk about it, think about it, but until you eat it, you will never get the reality of it. It will never benefit you until you get it into your stomach.  Then it will become life to you.  People have been eating off of the wrong tree since the creation, although, this was God's intention.  But now, for us to grow spiritually, we must eat of the the tree of life.  Like the writer of Hebrews says,

"For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat." Heb. 5:12.

And then again in verses 13 and 14, "For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.  But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."  Discernment is nothing else but knowing Christ, because Christ is life.  "In him was life; and the life was the light of men." Jn. 1:4

Milk is good, and we should recognize when a brother or sister can only drink milk and not be critical, because we were all in the same boat.  Even in Genesis, they never ate meat until after the flood.  Sometimes, it takes a great catastrophy in our life and a lot of death in us before we are able to eat meat.  But once we get to the point of eating the meat of the word, we will never be satisfied for anything else.

You know what Ches, its taken me almost fifty years to eat meat.  I'm like Kat, these were all words and stories that I just read but I never ate them until now.  Praise the Lord!

In Him,

Dwight

dogcombat:
Amen Dwight,

The bible now goes from being our LEARNING of God's word, to LIVING in God's reality.  The 23rd Psalm comes to mind.  From words you recite about Him, to a reality you live in Him.  It isn't pretty, it can get lonely, but it is NECESSARY, for those of us who walk in His marvelous light.

Deborah-Leigh:
Hello brethren

To add in witness to what you are saying and sharing so beautifully:

1 Cor 13 : ….whether there be knowledge, it shall VANISH AWAY.

Paul writes the desire of his heart for us here…he writes…may you Eph 3 : 19 …really come to know practically, through EXPERIENCE FOR YOURSELVES the love of Christ , which FAR SURPASSES mere knowledge…

I enjoyed how you see this Ches : Milk represents knowledge and Meat represents understanding..   8)

Peace to you

DWIGHT:
Arcturus, my dear sister,

"Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ," Phil. 3:8

"In whom (Christ) are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."Col. 2:3

"Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." 2 Tim. 3:7

"For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." 2 Pet. 1:8

"O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!" Rom. 11:33

"For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." 2 Cor. 4:6

"And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God." Eph. 3:19

"That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,  I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Phil. 3:10-14

Your brother,

Dwight

Deborah-Leigh:
I can hear music…Lets dance!

1Cor 2 : 2 For I resolved to know nothing, to be acquainted with nothing, to make a display of the knowledge of nothing, and to be conscious of nothing among you except Jesus Christ the Messiah and Him crucified.

2 Cor 5 : 16 Consequently, from now on we estimate and regard no one from a purely human point of view, in terms of natural standards of value. No, even though we once did estimate Christ from a human viewpoint and as a man, yet now we have such knowledge of Him that we know Him no longer in terms of the flesh.

2 Cor 6 : 2 For He says, In the time of favour of an assured welcome, I have listened to and heeded your call, and I have helped you on the day of deliverance, the day of salvation. Behold, NOW is truly the time for a gracious welcome and acceptance of you from God; behold, now is the day of salvation

1 cor 8 : 7 Neverthless, not all believers possess this knowledge. :)

Peace in fellowship my brother Dwight!

Arcturus :)
