Jesus Christ is the True Image of God!
When reading the OT remember:
Heb 10:1
For the law [OT] having
a shadow of good things to come,
and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
2Co 3:6
Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for
the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 7 But if the
ministration of death, written and engraven in stones,
was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: 8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? 9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory,
much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. 10 For
even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. 11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. 12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: 13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: 14 But their minds were blinded: for
until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. 15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. 16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
Rom 1:20
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And
changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Jer 18:4
And the
vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again
another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. 5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
1Co 15:46
Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual,
but that which is natural; and
afterward that which is spiritual. 47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
Col 1:15
Who [Jesus Christ]
is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be
conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
It's always been a process! Let us follow our Lord's example.
Heb 2:10
For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory,
to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferingsAnd we like Paul can say:
Col 1:24
Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and
fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:
Gal 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
