Hi, Ray!
I just wanted some understanding about 2 back-to-back verses
Answer a fool according to his folly and
Do NOT answer a fool according to his folly.
What would be a clearer translation? i'm sure this isn't a
contradiction.....
Dear Eric:
The translations are fine. Both statements are true. Sometimes we do one and sometimes we do the other depending on the situation. I have showed numerous times on my site that Jesus did both in His dealings with the Church leaders. Likewise, sometimes I will answer a fool according to his folly, and on other times I will not. Both are very effective ways of communication.
God be with you,
Ray
