This thread was very moving! Thanks all for sharing. Rodger I would have never thought you to be an Enya fan! :D
Right now that song by ?? about ???. Dang.
I am just amazed at the way a song can "bring" me right back to a certain moment in time!
I think all teachers should just teach by song- seems like we remember them forever!
I do love that song that someone on this forum introduced us to about Angels and all the while showing pictures from the Hubble Space Craft!! I get goose bumps everytime I hear it!!!

When I first became a Christian the small fellowship in the early 70's sang all the time. It was beautiful our songs were many scripture verses that has never left me. Its funny but it was like a feeding of our souls and we just grew stronger in the Lord. peggy

When I was young and a member of our Christian youth fellowship in our church, we're always learning new songs and one of my favorite was "My First Love" though at that time i don't give much attention to the wordings or lyrics as long as there is a "love" word i thought that's just fine with me, you know teenagers - love songs.
Here goes the lyrics:
"My First Love"
The world will sing their love song
of love so sad and blue;
My love is Christ, who gave His life
My first love is real love so true.
Cho.
My first love, my sweet love,
my true love is Jesus
no other love can take my heart from Him.
My saviour, my healer,
my lover is Jesus
Oh I love my first love who saved me from sin.
My love has never cheated,
He's true and true can be;
My love is Christ who gave His life
My first love forever the same.
(Repeat Chorus)
As I became older, fall into the world BIG TIME, though I have not totally forgotten that song, it hardly came to my mind and sang it.
Another song that has been my lifeline even when I was so much in the world was the song "1 Peter 5:7". I said this was and still is my lifeline to Jesus because everytime I was troubled, has problems that seems so heavy that many times I thought of suicide, I will repeat this song over and over ("1 Peter 5:7" I cast all my cares upon You, I lay all of my burdens, down at your feet, and many times I don't know what to do, I will cast all my cares upon You) till I will calm down and it will made me sleep and when I woke up I will feel lighthearted and sure do feel God's presence in my life. Tho the problems will not disappear, but my head will be clearer and God will see me through the storm.
When God dragged me to Him, letting me know His truth through BT, boy what a revelation (My First Love) that song is to me. I've returned back to my first love.

My music is very grand.
Seems the ole' classic way of expressing oneself through words of songs is a dying trend. Expression and comunication are the keys of LIfe.
If someone has express your feeling in a song or poem so be it and let it speak for your heart and mind. :)
thank you peggy and Joy for sharing.
Peace
Rodger
