Daniel:
I'm still editing the darn thing because I keep screwing up with all the bolding and underlining  Amen Chrissie The tongue is LOADED in scripture. You can draw the same picture several ways. To me it helps immensely in driving the point home. Mouth, lips, tongue, sword, fire, arrows, bows etc. From these you can say the exact same things. Jesus who spoke of our words surrely was not kidding. That tongue being a little member seems like a great mystery revealed. A study worth it, a real eye opener at many levels.
Going back now to reallign "the underline" for the fourth time  How did I keep missing that on "preveiw"?
Daniel

:) good stuff.

A wholesome tongue is like the tree of life-isn't the tree of life Jesus?
The tongue can bless the Father and curse his brother-isn't that like the tree of knowledge of good and evil?
one tree-one root-comes good and evil
one tongue-good and evil
Not sure if this is anything or not.
Joey Porter:
Interesting discussion about the tongue. Does anyone have any insight or see any spiritual symbolism in the story of Gideon?
Judges 7
5 So Gideon took the men down to the water. There the LORD told him, "Separate those who lap the water with their tongues like a dog from those who kneel down to drink." 6 Three hundred men lapped with their hands to their mouths. All the rest got down on their knees to drink.
7 The LORD said to Gideon, "With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands. Let all the other men go, each to his own place." 8 So Gideon sent the rest of the Israelites to their tents but kept the three hundred, who took over the provisions and trumpets of the others.
Lapping water (Christ) with our tongues like a dog (the dogs licked Lazarus' sores, also the Canaanite woman likened herself to a dog.)

WOW!! Very interesting. I'm not at all familiar with those particular verses, but that is certainly something to look at isn't it?
I'm just heading out to the dentist so can't look at it now, but one of the first things that came to my mind was one of the things you mention about the 'dogs' and how the "Gentiles" were considered 'dogs'.
I also noticed that they were on 'all fours' and we to be "at His feet" and that they were not using 'their own hands'????
Now I'll have something to think about while I'm sitting in the dentist's chair!!
