The electric chair was invented by a dentist

Is it any wonder why we are so afraid of the dentist?

Here's another one.  The guilloutine was invented by a French doctor who met his untimely end on his own invention.  Talk about irony.  Maybe this is why we fear doctors as well. LOL

A good thing to remember--learn about the culture BEFORE visiting a foreign country.

This reminds me of the time then-President Nixon visited a South American country (Peru, Brazil, Argentina ... I forget which one), and gave his famous "peace" sign with both hands, as he was well-known to do, when stepping out of the plane. Turns out, that is an obscene gesture in the country he visited.    That would be like a foreign leader coming here and giving us the finger with both hands!  A big OOPSIE!!! LOL

A couple I found especially funny:

It's illegal to drink beer out of a bucket while you're sitting on a curb in St. Louis, and
In Natoma, Kansas, it's illegal to throw knives at men wearing striped suits

I'm pretty sure it's illegal anywhere in the U.S. to do either one of these.
"Was the man wearing a striped suit?"
"No, your Honor, but he was sitting on the curb drinking beer out of a bucket!"
"Case dismissed!"

Matt,

Well if it was not illegal to do that in Texas, believe me some days I would drink beer out of a bucket.

Interesting tidbits!!!!!!!!!

Iris

[hillsbororiver]

Another little tidbit for any of you who happen to spend a long period of time in Kentucky;

There is a state law that requires everyone in the state to bathe at least once a year.

Just imagine what must have inspired that act of legislation.

Joe

[iris]

And that's whether we need it or not!!!!!!!!

Iris

[hillsbororiver]

So true Iris!

Those intrusive lawmakers, like anyone  could really notice if someone wanted to skip a year and only bathe every 2 years, I don't think there would be THAT much difference.

Joe-- My hubby and I thank you so much for warning us ahead of time! I guess we'll have to make other plans for our second honeymoon!

ehhehehehehe!

[rrammfcitktturjsp]

Joyful,

Got an idea.  You should be okay if you do not drink on the curb.  Just do it anywhere but the curb.
