God must really be on my side!
« on: July 07, 2007, 10:49:18 PM »

I just had about three beers, and I needed to go get some smokes (cigarettes), and I decided to go to Dupage County (which is near Cook county where I live) because they are like 50% cheaper there because of the tax difference. Anyways, on the way back, I see this cop headed in the other direction looking at me as I went past him, and wouldn't you know it, he pulls a U-Turn. I make the right at the light
and he follows me, then puts on his lights and I pull over in some parking lot. He asks me for my drivers license and insurance, I give him my license but I can't find my insurance. I forgot to put it in my vehicle (like you're supposed to). Then he asks me if I had been drinking because he can "smell the alcohol in the wind". I said "I had about a beer or two" which of course wasn't being entirely truthful since I knew I had three (which is already past the legal .08 limit, I knew or at least I thought I was screwed). Then he asks me to step out of the vehicle, so I do, and he asks me to "stay right there". Like an idiot I go back into the vehicle to grab my smokes, he comes out of his car, and is like "I thought I told you to stay right there" and I said "I know officer, I'm sorry, I just went to grab my smokes". So I put them on top of the vehicle, and he hands them to me giving me the go ahead to smoke. So I light it up, and before I even get to finish the cigarette
he comes back out of his vehicle (after searching my name and all that on his computer) hands me my license back, and says that he is giving me a break. I was expecting a breathalizer or something, but nope, he lets me go. I don't even get a ticket for not wearing the seat belt which is (according to him) the reason why he pulled me over.

So either it's just dumb luck and I was very fortune, or God is or was on my side. I'll let you decide.

Hey Sorin, I have three words for you brother...

Wake Up Call!

See it for what it is, God giving you a very clear warning that you messed up. So don't be surprised if the same cop or another throws the book at you next time.

I love the way God works. :)

Love in Christ,
Darren

Yes Darren, I think you are right. And "WAKE UP CALL!" is a better way to put, and to look at it. God could have easily had me arrested; I could have been in jail right now. And man, I did not deserve that break anymore than I deserve to have Jesus be crucified for my sins.

Take care,

Sorin

Nothing happens by "chance."

Although, I do have a question, or two:
Did you think the cigarette smoke would conceal the beer breath? Or, was it a smoke screen to cover a lie?  ;)
