I just had about three beers, and I needed to go get some smokes (cigarettes), and I decided to go to Dupage County (which is near Cook county where I live) because they are like 50% cheaper there because of the tax difference. Anyways, on the way back, I see this cop headed in the other direction looking at me as I went past him, and wouldn't you know it, he pulls a U-Turn. I make the right at the light
and he follows me, then puts on his lights and I pull over in some parking lot. He asks me for my drivers license and insurance, I give him my license but I can't find my insurance. I forgot to put it in my vehicle (like you're supposed to). Then he asks me if I had been drinking because he can "smell the alcohol in the wind". I said "I had about a beer or two" which of course wasn't being entirely truthful since I knew I had three (which is already past the legal .08 limit, I knew or at least I thought I was screwed). Then he asks me to step out of the vehicle, so I do, and he asks me to "stay right there". Like an idiot I go back into the vehicle to grab my smokes, he comes out of his car, and is like "I thought I told you to stay right there" and I said "I know officer, I'm sorry, I just went to grab my smokes". So I put them on top of the vehicle, and he hands them to me giving me the go ahead to smoke. So I light it up, and before I even get to finish the cigarette
he comes back out of his vehicle (after searching my name and all that on his computer) hands me my license back, and says that he is giving me a break. I was expecting a breathalizer or something, but nope, he lets me go. I don't even get a ticket for not wearing the seat belt which is (according to him) the reason why he pulled me over.
So either it's just dumb luck and I was very fortune, or God is or was on my side. I'll let you decide.
